The journey since felling

Since 2018 the oaks have been stored at the saw mill at Logie Timber near Forres.

During this time they have been further cut into smaller pieces, and have been under cover, drying slowly in the Scottish air.

There were a few interesting items discovered when the timber was cut, including a javelin point that must have been embedded in one of our oaks for many years!

Some of our larger pieces of wood will be made into timeline slices to show the age and stature of our Mighty Oaks.

These large pieces have been soaked in ‘Pentacryl’ to stabilise then and will spend the next 6 months slowly drying out, before being crafted into some striking display pieces.
